National Recruiting Day is helping citizens find jobs that count

With the 2020 Census right around the corner, the U.S. Census Bureau is looking for employees

EAST POINT, Ga. — It's National Recruiting Day and the U.S. Census Bureau is hiring. Big Time! With the start of the U.S. Census nationwide on Census Day, April 1, 2020, time is running short to fill the 3,000 or so jobs for Fulton County. Partnering with local organizations, the local U.S Census Bureau has been attending job fairs to offer citizens work opportunities.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, representatives from the Census Bureau attended the Greenbriar Mall Job Fair sponsored by the Goodwill South DeKalb Donation Center and Career Center. The positions available for the census range from $14 - $24 an hour and there's no experience required. Hours are flexible, ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week. The US Census Bureau is a Second Chance Employer and the minimum age of employment is 18 years old. The Bureau was to remind residents that veterans are also highly encouraged to apply.

Local Census Bureau Recruiting Assistant, Alex Lima, had this to say to My East Point News, "To hire familiar faces, to bring jobs to the community, at the community level is huge because then you're working for the common good."

There will be a Census Job Fair in conjunction with WorkSource Fulton on October 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church on 4245 Cascade Road SW, Atlanta, Ga 30331. For more information about the U.S. Census and how to apply, visit the following link.
