The incident occurred just before noon on Wednesday, spurring a Code Red lockdown at the high school. Cobb County police said there was a fight where a student stabbed another student.

A senior at the school, Turner Maddox, told 11Alive he heard the situation unfolded in a bathroom.

“There was three kids fighting in the bathroom and apparently one of them had a knife or some kind of object and stabbed the other student and then ran out to the Chick-Fil-A across there then took off somewhere,” he said.

Eventually, police took a suspect into custody and classes continued as normal but with a large police presence in the area.

The situation left parents shaken. A parent with twin sons at the school said she’s not sure if she’s bringing them back.

“I don’t feel like we’re safe anywhere. There’s a shooting everywhere. You send you kids to school and you don’t know if they’re coming back,” said Suzane Nesbitt.
