ATLANTA — While the race to the White House is divisive, one issue is seemingly bipartisan: Georgia voters are ready for the deluge of political messaging to end.
"Every day I'm getting like 10 text messages, some calls... the election is tomorrow, and they're still doing some rallies," Monika Dennard said. "It's annoying. Please be over."
Dennard isn't eligible to cast a ballot in this November's election, but the advertisements and mailers don't discriminate.
"Every day when I go to the mailbox, I have to throw away the stuff from Trump and Kamala," she said. "What they spend for the mail and that stuff, they could spend in better places."
On Monday, 11Alive spoke with a handful of people walking the Beltline, trading political ads for fresh air. All of them were looking forward to the end of the election.
"Every day, I'm getting maybe 20 to 30 texts a day, emails, I'm obviously seeing all the billboards and signs everywhere," Remy Guffey said. "I'm over it, really."
Guffey said she was trying to disconnect in the days leading up to the election.
"I have stopped watching TV for a while now," Guffey said. "We primarily do streaming, but even then, we still get a couple."
Emily and Maddie Rutherford are also ready for the political messaging to stop.
"I mean, it's crazy. I probably receive about 10 to 15 texts a day that tell me to vote," Maddie said. "I already have a plan to vote, so it's not like I need the constant reminder."
"The texts are out of control; the emails are non-stop asking for donations and asking who I'm going to vote for," Emily said. "[The ads] tend to be really divisive, so just not having negativity all around will be nice."
