PARIS, France — Team USA sprinter Hunter Woodhall revealed he has COVID amid training for the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
"I tested positive for Covid. Unfortunate timing, but I knew it was a risk being around so many celebrating/traveling. Won’t be an excuse, gonna kick this thing and I’ll be ready for the Paralympics," he wrote on Threads.
In a TikTok posted this week, Hunter jokingly added, "I tested positive for COVID today. Now Tara's shooing me away."
The news comes after his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, a former Georgia Bulldog, won a gold medal in the women's long jump at the Paris Olympics.
Despite having COVID, Hunter is also going for gold and is set to compete in the Paralympics, which begin on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Between Hunter and Tara, the Olympic power couple has the following medals, according to their Team USA bios:
Hunter Woodhall medal count: 3 (Before Paralympic Games in Paris)
- Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, bronze (400m T62 - Men), 8th (100m T64 - Men)

"This sport has given us everything – the chance to travel the world and work together every day, so we have so much to be grateful for. That allows us to take a little more of a lighthearted approach and enjoy what we’re doing," Hunter previously said in an interview with Team USA.
