Teens indicted for Memorial Day murder of man at Athens apartment complex

The teenagers face multiple charges, including murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and violations of Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

ATHENS, Ga. — Two teens have been indicted in connection to a deadly Memorial Day shooting in Athens.

Attorney General Chris Carr announced Monday that Zyquavious Thomas, 17, and Keanthony Sorrells, 15,  have been indicted for their alleged involvement in the May 27 shooting death of 20-year-old Cameron Manago at the Rolling Ridge Apartments. 

Police were called to the apartments on Rolling Ridge Drive around 10:25 p.m., and when they arrived, they found Manago suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The two teenagers, who authorities claim are members of the national Bloods gang Sex Money Murder, face multiple charges, including murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and violations of Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Janiya Moore, 18, was also indicted on unrelated drug charges of attempting to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act and possessing marijuana with intent to distribute.

The indictments come after the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit presented evidence to an Athens-Clarke County Grand Jury on November 19, 2024.
