ATLANTA — As heavy rains and strong winds from Helene continue to impact those across metro Atlanta and north Georgia, road closures are increasing as the weather gets more severe.

Road closures

Athens-Clarke County

Bartow County

  • GA-293 closed at Tom Jones Road due to tree limbs

Clayton County 

  • Tree limbs reported on I-75 South at Old Dixie Hwy.
  • Forest Parkway between JG Glover Court and Sapphire Circle is flooded.
  • Gardenwalk Boulevard and Upper Riverdale Road are flooded, but Southern Regional Medical Center remains accessible to ambulances

Cobb County 

Coweta County

  • GA-16 closed at joe Cox Road due to tree limbs.

Dawson County

  • GA-136 closed at Old Wilkie Road due to tree limbs

DeKalb County

  • Flooding reported on I-285 East exit to I-285 South
  • A tree is down on power lines near North Druid Hills Road at Lenox Park Boulevard, Brookhaven Police shared. All lanes are blocked in both directions. 
  • Buford Highway going south in the 3540 block is closed due to multiple sinkholes in the roadway in Brookhaven
  • Kendrick Drive near Peachtree Road is closed in Brookhaven, police said.
  • Tyron Road/Cravenridge Road is closed in Brookhaven
  • Hopkins Terrace/Briarcliff Road is closed in Brookhaven
  • W Druid Hills Drive/Buford Highway is closed in Brookhaven
  • GDOT 511 reports flooding on the I-20 eastbound exit to I-285 South. Lanes are closed in the area.
  • There's flooding on US 78 Eastbound at Clarion Ave. All lanes closed, according to Georgia 511. 
  • Flooding on US 278 in both directions at S McDonough Street. All Lanes closed.
  • GA-124 closed before Covington Hwy. due to flooding

Fayette County

  • GA-92 closed at Brogdon Road with tree limbs

Forsyth County

  • GA-306 closed at Waldrip Road due to tree limbs

Fulton County

  • Trees down on Langford Parkway in the westbound lanes.
  • Camp Creek Parkway closed in the westbound direction due to flooding at the entrance to I-285.
  • Tree on the road at Johnson Ferry & Climbers way in Sandy Springs.
  • Tree on the road on Academy Street in Alpharetta at Wedgewood Drive.
  • GA-92 closed at Spence Road due to flooding
  • Part of Thompson Road in Milton closed because of a downed tree
  • Atlanta Department of Transportation has closed Lake Forrest Drive NE from Barbara Lane NW to Chastain Park Drive NW due to issues related to storms. Here are the following detours:
    • Traveling northbound:
      • Left onto Chastain Park Drive
      • Right onto Dudley Lane
      • Right onto Barbara Lane
      • Left onto Lake Forrest Drive
      • End detour
    • Traveling southbound:
      • Right onto Barbara Lane
    • Left onto Dudley Lane
    • Left onto Chastain Park Drive
    • Right onto Lake Forrest Drive
    • End detour

Greene County

Gwinnett County

  • There's a tree down on live wires at New Hope Road near Corley Brook Way in Lawrenceville. The road is shut down.
  • Highway 316 E is closed due to a crash in Gwinnett County.
  • Little Mill Road near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is closed in both directions due to power lines in the roadway.

Habersham County

  • Lanes blocked on GA-255 at GA-197 due to road debris.
  • GA-197 closed at Alleys Chapel Road due to tree limbs

Haralson County

  • GA-120 closed at Hwy. 27 due to traffic lights not working

Henry County

Meriwether County

  • Tree limbs are down on SR 362 in both directions at Mt. Carmel Road.

Pickens County

  • Tree limbs reported on GA-53 at New Town St.

Sandy Springs

  • There's a tree blocking all lanes on Riverside Drive near River North Lane, the City of Sandy Springs shared on X.
  • 4502 Lake Forrest Drive NE with a detour in place
  • 400 Northridge Parkway (lane closure)
  • Riverside Drive near River North Lane
  • Tree down: 8197 Colquitt Road and 6750 Castleton Drive

Spalding County:

  • Moon Road Bridge
  • 2217 Honeybee Creek Drive
  • S McDonough @ Johnston (1 lane)
  • 108 Moose Lodge Road
  • E Maddox Road
  • O'Dell at Lakeshore
  • GA-362 closed with tree limbs

Walton County

  • GA-20 closed at Creekwood Dr. due to downed power lines

White County and Union County

  • Richard Russell Scenic Highway between State Route 75 in White County to Highway 80 in Union County is shut down due to flooding.

Newton County 

  • Highway 212 at the South River is closed between Lummus and Highway 81 due to flooding, the sheriff's office said. All lanes are closed, and detour signs will be posted in the area.
