ATLANTA — As heavy rains and strong winds from Hurricane Helene continue to impact those across metro Atlanta and north Georgia, road closures are increasing as the weather gets more severe.

Road closures

Atlanta:

Atlanta Department of Transportation has closed Lake Forrest Drive NE from Barbara Lane NW to Chastain Park Drive NW due to issues related to storms. Here are the following detours:

Traveling northbound:

  • Left onto Chastain Park Drive
  • Right onto Dudley Lane
  • Right onto Barbara Lane
  • Left onto Lake Forrest Drive
  • End detour

Traveling southbound:

  • Right onto Barbara Lane
  • Left onto Dudley Lane
  • Left onto Chastain Park Drive
  • Right onto Lake Forrest Drive
  • End detour

Brookhaven:

  • Buford Highway going south in the 3540 block is closed due to multiple sinkholes in the roadway.

White County and Union County

  • Richard Russell Scenic Highway between State Route 75 in White County to Highway 80 in Union County is shut down due to flooding.

Spalding County:

  • Moon Road Bridge
